The Martian Deserts by Swaroop The Martian Deserts by Swaroop
As I was 'fantasising' late night last week about me 'walking' on mars, I fell asleep and entered a light dream state wherein I was on a mars like realm, with its characteristic 'martian' hue atmosphere, a pleasant 'gale' and sense of radiation tickling my skin! It was serene, and surreal! And In the sky was 'mars', again! So , my thoughts went on streaming in that awake-dream state borderline and suggested to myself, 'may be some very very upper atmospheric phenomenon is reflecting mars and so it can be seen from its own surface'! As fantasy started intruding into the domains of insanity I woke up!

Making:
Thanks to the procedural terrain feature in vue 5, I could render it the way it looked in the dream!

Hope u enjoy,
enjoy the 1600x1200 wallpaper

Original render 5334x4000
Render time 32 hrs

Dreams made real - isn't that what DeviantART is really all about?

Beautiful style. By the way, I think using the Healing brush a bit on the dunes (if you're using Photoshop) could help blend them into the ground a bit more. Be careful, though - it tends to take away a number of details, as well.

Vue is a great program, I've been using it for a couple months now, lots to learn. Great job on the render, really well done. Most of my scenes usually come from a dream as well or while I am dosing off....in fact I've got one rendering out right now, should be done in 10hrs or so. The colors in your render are really nice too, nice orange tone.

The sky is really good and the dunes as well but you should find a way to merge the dunes into the ground a bit easier since it kinda looks like piles sand dropped on the floor.
